Profiles, rebuilt — show who you are and what you're into
New
- A new profile. Your profile now leads with who you are, then what you're into right now. Under your name are three tabs: your own (your Showcase, plus what you're watching, reading and playing), Activity and Reviews. Switching between them is instant.
- Showcase. Pick up to 7 books, movies, shows and games that say a little something about you, in the order you like. They fan out at the top of your profile — run your finger or pointer across them and each one lifts as you pass. Drag a poster along the fan to reorder it, or tap the pencil next to Showcase to search, add and remove.
- Checking out now and Recently completed. Your profile shows what you're in the middle of and what you've just finished, mixed across movies, TV, books and games. On your own profile each one has its status pill, so you can update it right there.
- A display name, a location and a photo you can see. Add a name to show alongside your @username and a location if you like — a city, or "the couch". In Edit Profile, drag a photo straight onto your picture (or click it) and see it before you save. People search finds you by your display name too.
- Keep private. Want to track something without anyone seeing it? Open the title's Settings and switch on Keep private. It disappears from your profile, your followers' feeds and Home, but stays in your own library and journal. A review you write is still public — the Log screen reminds you. Settings → Privacy lists everything you've kept private.
- Followers and Following lists. Tap the follower or following count on any profile you can see to browse the list. You'll also see "Followed by…" on someone's profile when people you follow already follow them.
- Follow requests come to you. When someone asks to follow your private account, you get a notification with Accept and Decline — and once you accept, Follow back is one tap away.
- Remove a follower. With a private account, you can take someone off your Followers list. They aren't told, and they can ask again.
- What others see. On your own profile, What others see shows your page exactly as other people get it. With a private account you can switch between what your followers see and what everyone else sees.
- A helping hand on an empty profile. While your profile is new, it suggests a few things to fill in — your Showcase, a bio and photo, inviting friends. Each goes away once it's done, or when you dismiss it.
Changed
- Private accounts are easier to recognise. Anyone signed in can now see a private account's name, photo, bio, location and follower counts — so friends can tell it's you before they ask to follow. Everything else (Showcase, what you're watching, activity, reviews, lists) is still for approved followers only.
- "Following" tells you what a click does. Hover it and it reads Unfollow.
- Confirmations look like the rest of the app. "Remove from Library" and other are-you-sure questions now match the app's other windows.
Fixed
- Liking a review no longer flicks back to unliked for a moment while the like is saved.
- Editing an evening journal entry no longer moves it to the next day. Entries open, and save, on your own day rather than UTC's.
- Episode numbers like S1E7 use the same typeface everywhere.
